New Designs to share for some upcoming holidays!

Designs to share

Hi there, the holidays are coming just around the corner and I wanted to share with you what I have created, just to have a jump on things for the holidays!

I have created a Christmas card for the mailman or mail carrier to give out on his daily route for the holidays. Follow this link to take a closer peek at the card!

Here is another design for a greeting card from a mailman

Finding My Niche on GreetingCardUniverse.com

So my newest contributions to my Greeting Card Universe shop would be designs encompassing my love for colour thrown together with a mix of magical fantasy and fairies and butterflies - all rolled into one.

Check out this card!
And the end result is... (drum roll please)

Now as you can see, I made this particular design into a party greeting card invitation. But I can customize it to any theme that one would wish.

I love working with all kinds of colour and experimenting with colour to figure out what colours work together and which ones don't. Plus I love being creative and artsy and seeing how far you can go with creating a design that you love and that you hope your audience and "shop goers" will love too.

When you become a artist on GCU (Greetingcarduniverse.com), you need to have a niche to be able to stand out from other artists, who in actuality are your competition. Now, in the end it all comes down to which card is going to be the one that the customer decides to buy. You have no control over that, but you can help yourself by having various options in the category that are mostly your designs. Then it narrows down which artist will get the sale. Ultimately, it's the buyers choice whether its going to be your lucky day or not. All you can do is hope that the customer loves your card as much as you do.

Finding your niche, sets you apart from the crowd and enabling you to have your own style and not similar to someone else's. This makes you different from another artist, maybe even help you get more sales from another.

This is my niche and I love it! I love colour and everything about colour. The different moods that it can put you in. The fact that colours can make you feel happy or energetic. its crazy! But thats why I love it :)

The stamps or "brushes" that I use in my card designs are downloaded from a site called Obsidian Dawn.
There you can find all kinds of digital design resources!!

Another part I enjoy is experimenting with different font styles! It is amazing what can be said for a different style. You want your font style to reflect the theme of the card that you have designed, so the whole thing must work together. But thats part of the fun, playing and seeing which one fits best.
Anywho, this is my niche... what do you think?

Summer Project : Digging a Flower bed!

I've been dying to get my hands on a couple Hydrangea's this summer. They are so beautiful with their giant balls of multiple blossoms and rich colour. AND they come in a variety of colours and sizes, SO you'll be able to find one that is perfect for your own backyard too! Now is the perfect time to go shopping for perennials because everything is on sale and the nurseries just want to sell sell sell, to make room to grow new stock for next year! So I finally found two - both are different sizes and colours but both are equally gorgeous! Then I had to find a home for them in my backyard ... so I decided, well hey, lets just make a new flower bed. So the digging began ...

I started out first by mapping out the area that I wanted to dig my flower bed. I mapped out the area by using a garden hose to manipulate the shape or outline that I wanted the flower bed to be. Then I started digging :) So I dug and dug and after little more digging ... I dug some more ... It was a rather satisfying project and didn't really take that long either. About 2.5 hours roughly. It was well worth the digging and hard work because it really paid off in the end!
Like I said, it was well worth it!!! I'm so happy with how it turned out! The Hydrangea's that I used were  Dwarf "Little Lime" and beautiful "Pink Lush". I love them! and then 3 Hosta's in between and on either side.
I chose that particular shape for the bed specifically because it needed to be easy to maintain the grass around it! Easy enough with a small push mower anyway.

What do you think ?

What are some of your best made flower beds? or just some that you are so proud to say that you did all by yourself? what is your inspiration?

Awesome music to check out!

http://www.hearhue.com/
Just recently, I went to a awesome concert! The venue was APK Live in London, Ontario and it was amazing! The group is called hue (yes that is spelled the correct way) and they are amazing! Check out their website hue to hear their latest single. I absolutely love The Bump! They are a new group who will (I believe) be very big, they're gonna go places with their music! The reason why I know of them is because the two lead singers in the group are cousin's to my brother's fiancĂ©e. This group's music makes you proud to know them:) You can also check them out on itunes!

please check them out and feel free to comment and let me know what you think of their music!
I hope you like them as much as I do!

Happy listening!!!

I love photographing flowers and natural things. I think this is my fave for the summer! This is a shot of one of my red geraniums from one of my flower pots. I absolutely LOVE the intensity of the red colour! I love how VIBRANT it is! I couldn't help but snap a picture of it!

If you wish to buy a print or a greeting card of this photograph, feel free to check out my greetingcarduniverse.com shop to see this and other original card designs for any occasion!
